The Fresh Eye Review

Sometimes you don't need a new website. You just need a fresh pair of eyes on it.

I've been designing for more than 40 years,

and I've learned that sometimes we're simply too close to our own work to see what other people see.

That's what Fresh Eye Review is about.

I'll look at your website as an outsider, but with an experienced designer's eye. I'll tell you what's working, what's not, what might be confusing visitors and what I'd change, keep or leave alone.

And if I think your website is fine and doesn't need a major overhaul, I'll tell you that too.

I've been working in design, websites and visual communication for more than 40 years.

I'll look at your website as a designer, an artist and, most importantly, as someone seeing it for the first time.

I'll tell you honestly what I think.

What works. What doesn't. What I'd change. And what I'd leave alone.

And I'm not looking for things to sell you.

If your website is fine, I'll tell you.

If you can make the improvements yourself, I'll tell you that too.

And if something genuinely needs professional help, I'll explain why.

Why not ask a friend?

You can, of course.

But friends and family may not want to tell you everything they think, and they aren't necessarily looking at your website from the point of view of the people you're trying to attract.

A stranger might give you an honest opinion.

But they probably won't bring 40+ years of design experience to it.

That's the difference.

And if you're an artist...

I'm an artist too, so I understand that your website is more than just a website. It's how you present your work.

I'm not there to judge your art.

I'm there to help make sure your website is doing it justice.

Helping fellow artists succeed, wherever they want to go.

The aim isn't to create work for me.

The aim is to help you make your website work better for you.

Sometimes it's the little things, a spelling mistake, something that isn't quite as clear as you thought it was.

Perhaps it's something you've stopped noticing because you've looked at it a hundred times. Or simply something that makes perfect sense to you, but not necessarily to someone visiting for the first time.

Sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest difference.

So, what would I see if I looked at yours?

[ Let's find out ]

What do I Get?

A personalised written review of your website, with my honest thoughts and suggestions.

What if I don't like what you say?

It's my honest professional opinion, not a judgement. I'll explain what I see and why.

What if you don't like my artwork?

That's not what I'm reviewing. Art is subjective. I'm looking at whether your website presents your work properly.

Do I need a new website afterwards?

Not necessarily. In fact, if I think your existing site is basically fine, I'll tell you.

Is it just for artists?

No. It can be useful for small businesses, freelancers and anyone who relies on their website to attract people or sell something.

Still got a question?
